DAYTON — Gas prices in the Dayton area remain lower than most parts of the country but have increased in recent weeks.

The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is up 10 cents a gallon during the past three weeks, according to the national Lundberg Survey of fuel prices released Sunday, April 12.

According to Daytongasprices.com, the average price in the Dayton area on Sunday was $1.98. One week ago, average local prices were at $1.91.

Analyst Trilby Lundberg says the average U.S. price of regular grade gasoline was $2.05 a gallon Friday, when the survey was completed.

The lowest price for gasoline in the U.S. was found in Newark, N.J. at $1.83 a gallon. The highest was in Anchorage, Alaska, at $2.40.

But, who can complain, a year ago the average price nationally was at $3.47 per gallon.
