The Centerville boys basketball team escaped with a 53-50 overtime win against Alter on Monday night at Wright State’s Nutter Center.
Centerville’s Eric Meininger hit his fourth 3-pointer of the night to break a tie with 38 seconds to play in overtime. After an Alter basket, Conner Lash hit two free throws with 8 seconds left to put the game away for the Elks (10-9).
Jackson Replogle led Centerville with 18 points. Jaaron Simmons scored a game-high 19 points for the Knights (9-10).
Urbana 77, Eaton 68: Urbana’s Trischa Lacy had a career night in a Division II sectional tournament game at Xenia. Lacy made five-three pointers to bring her season total to 107, a single-season state record according to the Ohio High School Athletic Association. The junior was a perfect 20-for-20 from the line and finished with 39 points.
Vandalia Butler 60, Lebanon 40: Emily Mowbray scored 12 points and Julie Duren added 11 as the Aviators won their first-round sectional tournament game at Troy. Butler (14-7) will move on to play Fairborn on Feb. 20 at Lebanon.
Chaminade Julienne 57, Monroe 26: After a sputtering start, the top-seeded Eagles pulled away from Monroe for a convincing first-round win.
Raytea Long scored 11 of her game-high 16 points in the second half and CJ’s defense forced Monroe into 25 turnovers. The Eagles (19-2) will play Ponitz Tech on Saturday at Springboro.
Thurgood Marshall 52, Valley View 43: Kendra Moss scored 16 points as the Cougars (19-2) ended Valley View’s season in the Division II Springboro sectional.
“My guards really stepped up, my big girl (Moss) stepped up tonight, making some big moves inside,” Marshall coach Tobette Pleasant-Brown said.
Greeneview 48, Blanchester 42: The Rams advanced to the second round behind 18 points from Ashton Lovely. Sophie Sonnemon added 12 points for Greeneview (17-4), who will advance to play Williamsburg on Saturday at Wilmington.
Mechanicsburg 63, West Jefferson 54: Tori Purk was one of three Mechanicsburg players in double figures as the Indians (16-4) closed out the regular season with a home win. Purk finished with a game-high 21.
